Police recovered the body of 75-year-old Fatema Begum from an abandoned pond in Ward 9 of Charbhuta Union, Lalmohan Upazila, three days after she went missing. The recovery took place on Wednesday afternoon.
Fatema Begum was the wife of the late Mofizur Rahman from Ward 11 of Lalmohan Municipality. Local residents said she had been missing for three days, and family members had searched for her at multiple locations without success. On Wednesday morning, residents spotted the elderly woman’s body floating in the abandoned pond and informed the police.
Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and family members later confirmed it was Fatema Begum.
Lalmohan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Oliul Islam said no complaint had been filed regarding the death, and the body was handed over to her family.
