Prime Minister Tarique Rahman distributed Eid gifts of 5,000 BDT each to every sanitation worker across 12 city corporations in Bangladesh. The ceremony took place in the Prime Minister’s office at the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, where the Prime Minister handed over the cheques to the Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation and other city corporation administrators.
Also present were Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, State Minister Mir Shah Alam, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, and other city corporation officials.
According to the Prime Minister’s additional press secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon, the financial support was provided as a gesture of respect and empathy on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. He emphasized that sanitation workers play a crucial role in keeping the cities clean and livable, and this initiative was intended to recognize their tireless efforts.
Rumon also expressed hope that the Prime Minister’s support would bring extra joy to the families of the workers. He added that the government would continue to implement various humanitarian and welfare initiatives for the well-being of all urban service employees.
