GUCSU VP Yasin Al Mridul Dewan Joins Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal

Gano University Central Students’ Union (GUCSU) VP Yasin Al Mridul Dewan

In a significant shift for student politics at Gano University, Yasin Al Mridul Dewan, the Vice President (VP) of the Gono University Central Students’ Union (GUCSU), has officially joined the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (BJCD), the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The announcement followed a high-profile meeting between Yasin Al Mridul Dewan and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Shortly after the meeting, the GUCSU VP formally integrated into the student organization.

The news was publicized on Friday night by Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir via a social media post. Speaking later with the media, Yasin Al Mridul Dewan confirmed his transition into BNP’s political fold.

Alignment with Political Vision

Explaining his decision, Yasin Al Mridul Dewan highlighted his admiration for the party’s leadership and ideological stance.

“The political philosophy of the BNP resonates deeply with my personal values,” Yasin Al Mridul Dewan stated. “In particular, the vision and leadership of Tarique Rahman inspired me to take this step. After speaking with him directly, I am convinced that this is the right platform to work for a positive national future.”

A Landmark Year for GUCSU

This political move comes on the heels of the historic GUCSU elections held in September 2025. The election ended a seven-year hiatus of student union activities at the Savar-based private university.

In that election:

  • Yasin Al Mridul Dewan was elected Vice President (VP).
  • Raihan Khan was elected General Secretary (GS).
  • Samiul Hasan Shovon was elected Assistant General Secretary (AGS).

The entry of a sitting VP from a prominent private university union into Chhatra Dal is seen as a strategic boost for the organization’s reach within the private education sector.
