NCP Kicks Off Election Campaign with Tribute to Martyrs

National Citizen Party (NCP)

The National Citizen Party (NCP) officially launched its election campaign on Thursday morning by paying tribute at the Mausoleum of three national leaders and the grave of martyred Inquilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

The campaign activities commenced at the Dhaka University area, led by the party’s Convener and NCP-nominated candidate for the Dhaka-11 constituency, Nahid Islam.

Starting from the Heartland of Movements

Speaking at the event, Nahid Islam emphasized the historical significance of the location. “The Language Movement, the Liberation War, and the mass uprising of ’24 all originated from the Dhaka University area. That is why we have chosen this sacred ground to begin our electoral journey,” he said.

Nahid Islam characterized the upcoming election as a “crusade against hegemony.” He mentioned that Nasiruddin Patwari is contesting on behalf of the 10-party alliance to challenge “new mafias” and urged the nation to ensure a victory for the alliance.

Concerns Over Level Playing Field

The NCP leader also leveled serious allegations against the current administration and the Election Commission. Nahid Islam claimed that the Commission is failing to maintain neutrality and is providing “special advantages” to a specific political party, a concern the NCP has voiced repeatedly.

Justice as a Core Agenda

Joining the campaign launch, the party’s Chief Coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwari, stated that ensuring justice remains one of their primary electoral agendas.

“Our fight is for the justice of those killed and injured during the 2024 movement, including the late Sharif Osman Hadi,” Nasiruddin Patwari remarked.

Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent activist and spokesperson for Inquilab Manch, passed away in December 2025 after being shot during a rally, an incident that has become a rallying point for the NCP and its allies in this election cycle.
