The United States is set to introduce a new passport design featuring the image of President Donald Trump, marking one of the most significant commemorations of the country’s 250th Independence anniversary.
According to a senior official from the United States Department of State, the rollout will begin soon. The official confirmed that applicants renewing passports in person at the Washington Passport Agency will be the first to receive the updated version, while online applicants and other locations will continue using the existing design.
This initiative represents the most prominent use of Trump’s image in official commemorative items so far. While his portrait has previously appeared on souvenir coins and park passes, the inclusion in a passport holds greater significance due to its status as an internationally recognized identity document, typically valid for 10 years.
As per the released design, the inside cover of the passport will display Trump’s portrait along with a golden signature. Addressing the new features, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said:
“The special passport will include customized artwork,”
“However, the security features will remain unchanged.”
Additionally, the back cover will feature a scene from the Declaration of Independence painting, replacing the current illustration centred around Francis Scott Key.
Earlier, the US government had already incorporated Trump’s image into park passes, and commemorative coins bearing his portrait have also been approved as part of the anniversary celebrations.
