A huge explosion rocked a Valero oil refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, on Monday, March 23, shaking the entire area and igniting intense fires. The local authorities instructed nearby residents to evacuate immediately for safety due to the severity of the blaze. The incident was confirmed by international news agency AFP.
Eyewitnesses reported that the blast shattered windows in surrounding homes, while video footage broadcast by local media showed tall flames rising from the refinery and thick black smoke darkening the sky.
Official statement from Port Arthur authorities:
“Following the massive explosion at the Valero refinery, all residents in adjacent areas are advised to seek safe shelter immediately to ensure their safety.”
The refinery processes 435,000 barrels of oil daily and produces essential fuels including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, making it a critical energy facility in the region.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the explosion.
