Cumilla-10 BNP MP Installs ‘Complaint Box’ to Deter Extortion by Party Activists

BNP MP Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan Installs Complaint Box in Cumilla-10

Cumilla-10’s newly elected Member of Parliament Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan has taken an unusual step to curb extortion and unethical activities allegedly carried out in the name of politics, installing a public “complaint box” at Nangalkot Municipality.

The BNP lawmaker announced that residents can submit written অভিযোগ (complaints) if any party leader or activist is involved in extortion or other irregularities. A message printed prominently on the box urges citizens to report such activities without hesitation.

Speaking about the initiative, Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan said he wants to bring “a positive change” to the constituency and assured that identities of complainants would remain confidential.

“BNP is my party, but I am the MP of the people. Anyone can submit a letter in the complaint box. If any wrongdoing is proven, I will recommend legal action. If someone from my own party commits a crime, I will be even stricter,” he said.
He also expressed hope that Nangalkot and Lalmai would become free from terrorism and extortion.

The constituency covers Nangalkot, Lalmai and Sadar Dakshin upazilas of Cumilla district.

After news of the initiative spread, the MP has received praise across the area and on social media. Many residents and netizens welcomed the move, saying that if properly implemented it could help ordinary people feel safer and discourage misuse of political identity.

Local residents believe such a transparent stance by an elected representative could play an important role in controlling grassroots-level crime while also protecting the party’s public image.
