Khaleda Zia’s Condition ‘Critical’ Again, Moved to Ventilation Support

Khaleda Zia

Former Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been placed on ventilation support at the capital’s Evercare Hospital after her health sharply deteriorated due to severe infections affecting her lungs and heart.

The move comes as a result of her increasingly critical condition, signaling a significant setback in her ongoing treatment.

Ahmed Azam Khan, the Vice Chairman of the BNP, confirmed the grave situation, stating that the medical team has taken immediate measures.

“Begum Zia’s condition is critical again, she has been taken to ventilation support since last night,” Khan confirmed to Gonotaar.

Khaleda Zia, who is currently serving a sentence in two corruption cases, has been receiving treatment in the hospital’s Critical Care Unit (CCU) for several weeks. Her health status remains a major political concern in Bangladesh, with party leaders and supporters expressing deep anxiety over her latest deterioration. Doctors are closely monitoring the nonagenarian leader as she battles the life-threatening infections.
