Tk 8.2 Crore Refunded to Bangladeshi Pilgrims After Transparent Hajj Management

After completing Hajj in Saudi Arabia this year, Bangladeshi pilgrims have been refunded Tk 8.2 crore. According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the refund was made possible through transparency and cost savings in Hajj management.

On Saturday (August 9), Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry, said that under the sincere cooperation and guidance of Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Yunus, this year’s Hajj management reached international standards and was recognized as one of the best in the world.

This year, the Hajj package cost was reduced by Tk 73,000 compared to last year. The ministry managed the pilgrimage of 87,100 pilgrims using technology and a limited workforce.

For Hajj 2025, three new services were introduced: the launch of the technology-based Labbaik mobile app, provision of mobile phone roaming facilities, and distribution of Hajj prepaid cards directly to pilgrims. Additionally, to save government funds, the Ministry carried out Hajj operations with limited staff, appointing 29 third- and fourth-class employees in the revenue sector. The process of creating 36 new posts in the ministry’s organizational structure under the revenue sector is awaiting approval from the Finance Division.
