AL Leader Kamrul Hoque Arrested at Osmani Airport After Returning from Hajj

Kamrul Hoque, an executive member of the Bianibazar Upazila Awami League, was arrested yesterday at the Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport upon his return from Hajj.

According to airport authorities, the arrest took place at around 3:30 PM on Friday, when immigration police flagged Kamrul during primary questioning. He was later shown arrested in connection with an existing case filed with Bianibazar Police Station.

Airport Director Hafiz Ahmed confirmed the arrest to the media, saying Kamrul Hoque was taken into custody immediately following immigration checks.

Sources at the airport stated that Kamrul Hoque had flown back from Saudi Arabia after completing Hajj and was on his way home. He hails from Ghungadia village under Muria Union in Bianibazar Upazila and is a travel business owner by profession.

Kamrul Hoque is also known for his political and business affiliations. He is a former advisor to the Upazila Awami League, the nephew of late Abdul Razzak — a well-known travel entrepreneur based in Dhaka — and the brother of former Sylhet District Council member Khoshrul Hoque.
