Newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid profound respect to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar today.
The Prime Minister arrived at the memorial at approximately 11:00 AM on Wednesday to honor the sacrifices made for the nation’s independence. Following the wreath-laying, Tarique Rahman stood in solemn silence for one minute as a mark of deep respect for the brave heroes.
Accompanied by members of his newly formed cabinet, the Prime Minister later placed another wreath at the memorial altar. During the visit, he also signed the official visitors’ book, marking his first visit to the historic site as the country’s 11th Prime Minister. Adhering to tradition, Tarique Rahman planted a sapling on the memorial premises.
Following these commemorations, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the graves of his late father, former President Ziaur Rahman, and his late mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, to offer prayers.
