Symbols have been allocated among 48 contesting candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies in Brahmanbaria for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. On Wednesday (January 21), the symbols were distributed at the office of the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer.

Barrister Rumin Farhana, a prominent independent candidate for the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, has been allocated her desired ‘Duck’ (হাঁস) symbol.

According to sources from the Returning Officer’s office, a total of 13 candidates across the six seats in the district withdrew their nominations. This leaves 48 final candidates in the race. Party-nominated candidates received their respective party symbols, while independent candidates were assigned symbols based on their preferences.

Expressing her excitement after receiving the symbol, Barrister Rumin Farhana told reporters, “I love my voters and supporters more than my own life. They are the ones who have brought me here. When the local children see me, they start shouting, ‘Our Duck symbol, our Duck symbol!’ This isn’t just my symbol; it belongs to my voters.”

Referring to a past incident regarding the theft of her pet ducks, she issued a stern warning: “When my ducks were stolen, I didn’t let the thief go. I filed a case and sent them to jail. If anyone even thinks about stealing this ‘Duck’ (symbol/vote), I will take appropriate legal action.”

Rumin Farhana emphasized that she considers herself a candidate for the common people of Brahmanbaria-2. “If the voters elect me, I will develop this constituency exactly how they want and as they see fit,” she added.
