Content Creator Touhid Afridi Arrested

Police have arrested content creator Touhid Afridi in connection with a murder case linked to attacks on anti-discrimination protesters. He was detained from Barisal on Sunday night.

The arrest follows the detention of his father, Mohammad Nasir Uddin Sathi, Chairman of private television channel MY TV, earlier on 17 August in the same case.

The case was filed on 30 August last year at Jatrabari Police Station and is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The murder case names 25 individuals, including high-profile figures. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the first accused, followed by former Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader and former Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamun. Touhid Afridi is listed as the 11th accused, while his father Nasir Uddin Sathi is the 22nd. Additionally, 150 unidentified individuals have been named in the case.

CID officials stated that further investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
