Indian Thief Targets Only Police Houses for 15 Years Over Old Grudge

In the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, police have arrested a unique burglar who reportedly deliberately targeted only the homes of police officers. Authorities say the man, Dipesh from Alirajpur, acted out of grievances stemming from a 15-year-old assault.

The suspect was identified during the investigation of a burglary at the Khandwa police lines on January 20, which involved the homes of constables Karanpal Singh and Suresh Khat. During the nighttime raid, several lakh rupees worth of jewelry and cash were stolen.

Police reviewed CCTV footage and were able to identify Dipesh. During the operation to arrest him, 30,000 rupees and some jewelry were recovered from his possession. Investigations revealed that Dipesh had been moving across various districts, including Jhabua, Dhar, and Alirajpur, to evade capture. Surveillance indicated he was heading toward Burhanpur, prompting a targeted police operation.

While trying to flee by jumping from a rooftop, Dipesh sustained injuries to his hands and legs and was hospitalized. After receiving treatment, he was produced before the Khandwa court and sent to judicial custody.

Khandwa Additional Superintendent of Police, Mahendra Tarnekar, described the arrest as a major success, noting that Dipesh has provided information about several other burglaries. Police are also searching for two accomplices, Ramesh and Bhuralia.

According to Praveen Arya, Officer-in-Charge of Khandwa Kotwali Police Station, Dipesh used disguises, sometimes posing as a vendor near the police lines, and entered homes late at night when conditions were favorable.

Dipesh confessed to deliberately targeting police officers’ homes, citing a 15-year-old incident in Alirajpur where he was assaulted by a police officer, which fueled his resentment toward law enforcement.
