Barrister Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, took to the streets of the capital today to seek votes for her father in the Dhaka-17 constituency.
The campaign began around 12:00 PM on Saturday near the Police Plaza area in Gulshan. Accompanied by Fatema, the long-time personal assistant of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Zaima Rahman engaged directly with voters, shopkeepers, and pedestrians.
Direct Engagement with Voters
Moving through various roads, restaurants, and street corners, Zaima Rahman introduced herself to the public and distributed election leaflets. She urged residents to cast their ballots for the “Sheaf of Paddy” (Dhaner Shish) symbol.
“I am Zaima Rahman, daughter of Tarique Rahman. My father is the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ candidate for the Dhaka-17 seat. I have come to you today to seek your support and your vote for him,” she told voters during her outreach.
Focus on Voting Rights
During her interactions, Zaima Rahman emphasized the significance of exercising the right to vote and the importance of active participation in the upcoming national election. Her presence drew significant attention, with many locals stopping to listen to her and capturing the moment on their mobile phones.
The campaign highlights the BNP’s efforts to mobilize support in key Dhaka constituencies, with the next generation of the Rahman family playing a visible role on the ground.
