Tarique Rahman Calls Conspirators ‘Gupto,’ Urges Vigilance at Sirajganj Rally

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has issued a stern warning against those attempting to mislead the public ahead of the upcoming national elections, labeling such individuals as “Gupta” (hidden/secretive) and urging the people to confront them immediately.

Addressing a massive election rally at the BSCIC Industrial Park in Sirajganj on Saturday afternoon, Tarique Rahman cautioned the crowd about potential conspiracies aimed at snatching away the people’s right to vote.

‘Call Them Gupto’

Speaking to a sea of supporters, Tarique Rahman said that various quarters might emerge to confuse the voters before the polls.

“Many will come and try to mislead you. To those who try to confuse you, tell them immediately: ‘You are Gupto.’ Can you do that?” he asked the cheering crowd.

He further elaborated on the term, stating that these individuals had been “hidden” for the last 16 years while being secretly aligned with the forces that fled the country on August 5.

“They have one name—’Gupto’—because we haven’t seen them for 16 years. They were merged with those who fled on the 5th, working behind the scenes,” he added.

A Call for Unity and Vigilance

Reflecting on the political history of the country, Tarique Rahman noted that certain groups have consistently worked together against the interests of the people since 1986 and 1996. He emphasized that BNP is the only party with the experience and capability to lead the nation correctly.

“We must remain united and alert so that no one can snatch away the right to vote through conspiracy again,” he said. “Those who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of people’s rights over the last 16 years—we must ensure their sacrifice is not silenced by new plots.”

Focus on People’s Welfare

Despite the massive turnout, Tarique Rahman chose to focus on the future rather than attacking political opponents. He remarked: “I could have said many things about the opposition, and you might have even applauded. But would that benefit the people? No, it wouldn’t.”

The rally was part of Tarique Rahman’s ongoing division-level election tour across Rajshahi and Rangpur as the country prepares for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. During the event, he also introduced the party’s candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies of Sirajganj.
