Shooting, vandalism and arson over bKash transactions

A public shooting, vandalism, and arson took place in Lalpur, Natore, due to a dispute over a bKash transaction. The incident took place on Saturday evening (July 12) at Maheshwar Bazar in Duaria Union of the upazila. This spread extreme panic throughout the market.
The victim, businessman Parvez Ali, is the son of Abul Kashem of the area. He has a mobile and internet equipment shop in Maheshwar Bazar.

According to the victim and local sources, Parvez had an argument with Mukti Khatun, wife of Abdul Hannan of neighboring Durgapur village, over a Bkash transaction on July 10. At one point in the argument, Mukti Khatun threatened to sue him.
Just two days later, on Saturday evening, seven miscreants on motorcycles and a CNG-powered autorickshaw ambushed Parvez’s shop in the market. They first fired a round of bullets to create panic. Then, they entered the shop and caused extensive vandalism, doused it with kerosene, and set it on fire.

The fire destroyed various valuables, including mobile phones, routers, cables, tables, and chairs in the shop. Although locals tried to control the fire, everything was destroyed by then.
Other traders in the market closed their shops in fear. An atmosphere of extreme tension and panic immediately arose in the market. Upon receiving the information, the police of the Lalpur police station quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominuzzaman said police were sent immediately after the incident. The matter will be investigated, and legal action will be taken.
