A young man has died after he was hit by a railway bridge while travelling on the roof of a train in Rajbari district, police and local sources said.
The tragic incident occurred when the victim, identified as Md. Jubayer (18) of Bagerhat’s Sadar upazila was returning home by train after Eid festivities. He was sitting on top of the train when it passed under a railway bridge near the Bhubanghat area.
According to police, Jubayer struck his head against the low‑lying bridge as the train moved forward. He fell from the roof and was severely injured. Local passengers and railway workers immediately rushed him to Rajbari Sadar Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) of Rajbari Model Police Station, Amir Hossain, confirmed the death and said an unnatural death case has been filed. The body was sent to the hospital morgue for post‑mortem and will be handed over to the family afterwards.
Police urged passengers not to travel on top of trains, warning that it is extremely dangerous and often leads to fatal accidents.
