Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has urged the government to find alternative energy sources to tackle the ongoing crisis. He also called for stringent measures to prevent the emergence of new syndicates and to stop fuel smuggling.
The Opposition Leader shared these views in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night.
In the post, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman noted that the fuel crisis in Bangladesh has intensified due to the recent global war situation. He warned that if the international situation remains unchanged in the coming days, it could have a severe negative impact on the country’s social and economic life.
To combat this, he emphasized that the government must identify alternative energy sources and implement realistic, urgent solutions.
“At the same time, strict steps must be taken to ensure that no new syndicates are formed during this period,” Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated. He further stressed the need for rigorous security to ensure that fuel is not smuggled anywhere in the country during this critical juncture.
