Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has alleged that the party’s rights were undermined in the recent national elections and called on party members to prepare for the upcoming local elections.
Speaking as the chief guest at a training camp for Upazila Shura and executive committee members, organized by Sylhet district Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said:
“In the latest national elections, our rights were taken away, and this matter is clear before the nation. In parliamentary politics, this marks Jamaat’s first major achievement.”
He further urged party members to work in a united manner during the forthcoming local elections and stressed the importance of collective action.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the significance of unity within the party, noting:
“For the first time in the country, a meaningful unity has been established under Jamaat-e-Islami’s leadership. Achieving the position of the main opposition party is an important accomplishment. In the future, we must continue to fight together against united forces.”
The day-long training camp, held at Malanch Community Centre in Sylhet city, saw participation from leaders across various Upazilas. Top leaders of the Sylhet district Jamaat were also present. The program included training sessions, discussions, and guidance-oriented speeches.
The organizers expressed hope that the event would further strengthen the party’s organizational activities and enhance overall effectiveness.
