Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus Returns to Former Workplace After 18 Months

Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus has returned to his previous workplace after leading Bangladesh’s interim government for 18 months.

On Sunday morning (February 22), he resumed his earlier responsibilities. In a Facebook post, he said he arrived at the Yunus Centre, located at the Telecom Bhaban in Mirpur, where he was welcomed by long-time colleagues. Representatives from various organizations of the Grameen family, along with the managing director and advisers of the Yunus Centre, were present to receive him. He later met with them.

Dr. Yunus was sworn in as Chief Adviser of the interim government on August 8, 2024. Following the 13th National Parliament election, power was handed over to the newly elected government.

However, he is still staying at the state guest house, Jamuna. The economist, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, may return to his private residence in Gulshan later this month or next.
