Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has assumed the portfolio of Education Minister in the new government led by Tarique Rahman. Previously, he served as State Minister for Education in 2001.
Upon taking the oath, Dr. Milon stated that the education system would undergo a complete transformation and be brought up to international standards. He made the remarks during a media briefing at the Parliament on Tuesday night (February 17).
Dr. Milon said, “An international standard education system will be introduced. We are living in a global village. Our education system must compete globally. It is no longer a local commodity; it is an international commodity.”
He emphasized the importance of preparing for the fourth-generation industrialisation, highlighting areas such as nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. He also stressed strengthening industry-academia linkages and giving priority to TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training).
He added, “Above all, the education system must undergo comprehensive reforms. We must standardize it internationally—there is no alternative. Wait a little, and you will see. Since I have taken responsibility, God willing, many surprises are coming. Implementation will begin within a few days.”
Dr. Milon’s statements indicate a strong focus on aligning Bangladesh’s education system with global standards and future-ready technologies.
