Independent Candidate Alleges Harassment of Female Polling Agents in Dhaka-9

Independent candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency, Tasnim Zara, has alleged that female polling agents are being harassed at various polling centres.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday (February 12) after visiting Khilgaon Model College centre in the capital, she claimed that her polling agents were being obstructed from entering centres.

“Our polling agents are being prevented from entering polling stations on various pretexts. In many cases, they are not being allowed inside. Female agents are being harassed,” she said.

The independent candidate added that her only demand is to ensure that all voters can cast their ballots freely and fairly.

Voting for the 13th National Parliament election and the referendum is underway across the country. Although polling officially began at 7:30 a.m., voters started gathering at centres early in the morning. Balloting will continue until 4:30 p.m. in 299 parliamentary constituencies nationwide.
