Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman has announced a plan to construct 40 playgrounds across the capital to ensure recreational space for the youth if his party is voted to power.
Addressing an election street rally at the ECB Chattar in Mirpur on Sunday afternoon, Tarique Rahman shared his vision for a modernized and safer Dhaka. He emphasized that these playgrounds are essential for the physical and mental development of the city’s children and teenagers.
Commitment to a Safer City
The BNP Chairman, who is contesting as a candidate for the Dhaka-17 constituency, vowed to transform Dhaka into a “safe city” where citizens can move and conduct business without fear.
“We want to build a city where our mothers and sisters can move safely at any time of the day or night. We want to ensure an environment where business and trade can flourish without insecurity,” he said.
Infrastructure and Urban Development
Beyond recreational spaces, Tarique Rahman promised significant infrastructure improvements for the local residents. He specifically pledged to widen the road connecting ECB Chattar to Uttara Jashimuddin, a move aimed at easing the chronic traffic congestion in the area.
Keeping his speech brief due to the rally being held on a busy public thoroughfare, he urged the attendees to remain united. “This is an election rally. Since this is a public road, I will not prolong my speech to avoid causing suffering to commuters,” he noted.
The Final Push for February 12
As the national election approaches, the BNP leader made a humble appeal to the voters of his constituency and the nation. He urged everyone to cast their ballots for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ (Dhaner Shesh) on February 12 to ensure a welfare-oriented government.
The rally saw a massive turnout of local residents and party activists, who greeted the Chairman with slogans, signaling a high-energy lead-up to the upcoming polls.
