Abdul Jalil Mondal, former Additional Director General (ADG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and former Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), was arrested on Monday evening.
A team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) apprehended Mondal from his residence in Khilgaon, Dhaka, and took him to the DB office on Minto Road.
A DB official said the arrest was made under a warrant issued in connection with charges of crimes against humanity during the July–August mass uprising. Mondal was taken into custody in accordance with this warrant.
Mondal served as the CMP Commissioner in 2014 and later as ADG of RAB in 2016 before retiring from the force.
