The amount of foreign debt accumulated in the country has increased. According to Bangladesh Bank data, the total amount of foreign debt taken by the public and private sectors stood at about $113.52 billion at the end of December last year.
Earlier, at the end of September last year, the foreign debt balance was about $112.22 billion. That is, in the space of three months, the amount of foreign debt increased by about $1.30 billion or $1.30 billion.
According to the central bank, the amount of foreign debt as of June was $113.58 billion. Accordingly, after the amount of foreign debt decreased in September last year, it increased again in December.
According to bank officials, foreign borrowing has increased in both the public and private sectors. As a result, the overall amount of debt has also increased. Debt in the public sector has increased by a little less than 1 percent.
