Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a teenage girl, identified as Ria Moni, from a village road in Rajoir village under Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat on Tuesday morning (March 24).
According to reports, Ria Moni had been living with her grandmother, Halima Khatun, in the village. She was the daughter of Azim Sheikh, while her parents have been residing in Brahmanbaria for a long time.
A local mosque imam said that the body was discovered by worshippers on their way to the mosque for Fajr prayers. They immediately informed the police.
Police stated that they recovered the body following information from locals.
Allegations from locals:
Some residents claimed that drug dealers had previously used Ria to sell yaba and cannabis, and alleged that she was also addicted.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saminul Islam of Sharankhola Police Station said the body has been sent to the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for further procedures.

Authorities are investigating the incident and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.
