Habibul Bashar to Lead BCB Selection Panel Until 2027 World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a new four-member national team selection panel, headed by former captain Habibul Bashar. The panel includes former pacer Hasibul Hossain, who was part of the previous selection committee under Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu since September 2025, and two newcomers, Naeem Islam and Nadif Chowdhury.

The tenure of the new panel will run until the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in South Africa, reflecting the board’s long-term planning for the tournament.

Habibul Bashar has previously served as a national selector for both the men’s and women’s teams, bringing extensive experience to the role. Naeem Islam, 39, boasts a two-decade playing career with over 20,000 runs in domestic and international cricket, while Nadif Chowdhury, 38, has been working as a selector for BCB’s age-group teams.

This new panel represents a mix of experience and fresh perspective, aimed at strengthening Bangladesh’s preparations for future international competitions.
