The first session of the 13th National Parliament began on Thursday (12 March) shortly after 11 a.m., with the Speaker’s chair left vacant at the start of proceedings.
Following the recitation of the Holy Quran, a senior member of parliament will be proposed to preside over the session. The proposal must be supported by another member, after which the nominated member will chair the proceedings.
As per the Constitution of Bangladesh, President Mohammed Shahabuddin is scheduled to deliver the inaugural address at the opening session of the new parliament.
