Youth Stabbed to Death in Dhaka’s Shantibagh Over Drug Dispute

A 32-year-old man, Sekandar Ali, was stabbed to death in Shantibagh, Dhaka, after intervening to stop drug consumption. The attack occurred late Monday night around 11:00 pm in Bhāngāri Gali, Shantibagh, and Sekandar was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 2:00 am.

According to his brother, Amir Ali, the family hails from Gazipur village in Titas, Comilla district. Sekandar, son of Abdur Rouf, lived in Rampura Olnobazar, Dhaka with his wife Mahfuza and three children, earning a living by driving two autorickshaws in Shahjahanpur’s Bhāngāri Gali.

Amir Ali claimed that Mamun alias Bullet Mamun, his brother-in-law Hannan, and several others attacked Sekandar with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. Local residents rushed him to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Family members alleged that the attackers were known drug dealers in the area. Sekandar had previously tried to intervene in their drug operations, which reportedly led to the attack.

Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, confirmed that Sekandar’s body has been sent for post-mortem. He added that the victim sustained multiple sharp weapon injuries to the head and body. The incident is currently under investigation by Shahjahanpur Police Station.
