Iranians Celebrate Khamenei’s Death Amid Reports of Joint U.S.-Israel Strikes

Saturday (28 February) saw sudden joint attacks by Israel and the United States across Iran, during which the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed, according to Iranian state media.

Following the news of Khamenei’s death, Iranians took to the streets to celebrate, playing music, clapping, and honking car horns. Verified footage obtained by AFP shows people cheering loudly, playing instruments, and setting off fireworks in multiple parts of Tehran.

Eyewitnesses reported that the celebration erupted immediately after the news spread. Residents gathered near their windows, clapped, played music, and participated in jubilant demonstrations. Social media videos, confirmed for authenticity by AFP, show continuous music, cheers, and fireworks marking the unexpected event.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death via a social media post, which further triggered celebrations among the Iranian public. The situation remains tense as international reactions continue to unfold.
