In his State of the Union address delivered before a joint session of Congress at the U.S. Capitol, President Donald Trump described his first year in office as “one of the greatest transformations in an era,” declaring that a new “Golden Age” has begun in the United States.
Speaking in the House of Representatives chamber on Tuesday night, Trump highlighted achievements in border security, economic growth, and crime reduction, while also emphasizing tougher immigration policies and increased military strength against Iran.
As he began his speech, supporters in the chamber chanted “USA,” creating a charged atmosphere. During the roughly hour-long address, Trump said,
“Our nation is back—bigger, better, more prosperous, and stronger than ever before.”
Repeating a familiar campaign message, he added that America’s “Golden Age” has begun, claiming the border is now secure, inflation is falling rapidly, incomes are rising, and the U.S. economy is stronger than ever. He also asserted that America’s adversaries now fear the country.
Referencing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, set to be celebrated later this year, Trump characterized his presidency as a “historic transformation.” The speech marked his first State of the Union address of his second term, delivered in keeping with tradition before a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives.
