‘Fake (Vua)’ Slogans Force Jatiya Party Activists to Leave Shaheed Minar

Leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party faced public backlash while attempting to pay tribute at the Shaheed Minar on the occasion of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.

According to witnesses, a group of people began chanting “Vua, Vua” (“Fake, Fake”) after noticing the party’s banner at the premises. The incident occurred late Friday night.

It was learned that after arriving at the Shaheed Minar, leaders and activists of a unit of the National Citizen Party (NCP) were met with slogans of “Vua, Vua.” Amid the chants, they were compelled to leave the area, leaving behind their flowers and banner.

Eyewitnesses said that around 2:00 am, several Jatiya Party leaders and activists entered the Shaheed Minar premises carrying banners and floral wreaths, following behind the NCP metropolitan unit. However, no well-known central leader of the Jatiya Party was seen at the site.

After the NCP group placed their wreaths, they reportedly began chanting “Vua, Vua” upon seeing the Jatiya Party banner. At one stage, the banner and floral wreaths of the Jatiya Party were taken away.

Subsequently, Jatiya Party leaders and activists left the Shaheed Minar area without placing their wreaths.
