Gold Prices Cut by Tk 3,266 per Bhori; New Rates Effective

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices in the domestic market by Tk 3,266 per bhori. The announcement was made in a press release issued on Wednesday (February 18) morning.

According to the statement, the price of pure gold in the local market has declined, prompting a revision of overall gold prices. The new rates came into effect from 9:30 am on Wednesday.

Under the latest decision, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) now stands at Tk 255,558.
The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 243,953 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is selling at Tk 209,077 per bhori. Gold under the traditional method is being traded at Tk 171,111 per bhori.

BAJUS also stated that a government-fixed 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge set by BAJUS must be added to the selling price. However, making charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

Earlier, on February 17, BAJUS had adjusted gold prices by reducing Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 258,824 per bhori. On that occasion, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 247,044 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 211,760, and gold under the traditional method at Tk 173,327 per bhori. Those rates had become effective from 10:00 am that day.

So far this year, gold prices have been adjusted 30 times in the domestic market, with 18 increases and 12 decreases. In 2025, gold prices were revised 93 times, including 64 hikes and 29 reductions.

Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk 6,357 per bhori.
The price of 21-carat silver stands at Tk 6,065 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk 5,190 per bhori, and silver under the traditional method at Tk 3,907 per bhori.

This year, silver prices have been adjusted 17 times, including 10 increases and 7 decreases. In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times, with 10 increases and 3 reductions.
