The critically noted Bangladeshi feature film Delupi is set to arrive in Chattogram this Friday, 21 November, marking its first major screening in the port city. The film will be shown at two venues: Suganda Hall in Kazir Deuri and Star Cineplex at Bali Arcade.
Directed by Touqir Islam, Delupi has been gaining steady attention nationwide for its grounded narrative style and its focus on the lived realities of rural communities. Inspired by the landscape and people of Paikgachha’s Deluti Union, the film blends local history, cultural memory, and social struggles to portray a layered story that resonates beyond its geographical setting.
Earlier district-level premieres drew strong engagement from audiences, especially those who identified closely with the film’s depiction of natural hardships, community bonds, and the subtle presence of political tension in everyday life. Viewers and critics alike have praised the film for its honest visuals, restrained storytelling, and its commitment to using local performers alongside professional actors.
With the Chattogram release, the filmmakers hope to reach a wider urban audience and continue building momentum through word-of-mouth and community screenings. Tickets for both halls will be available at their counters and through online booking platforms.
