The government has decided to hold the postponed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams of July 22 and July 24 on the same day, once a new exam date is fixed. The announcement was made by Education Adviser Dr. C R Abrar during a media briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
According to the Adviser, the July 22 exam will be held in the morning, and the July 24 exam will take place in the afternoon of the same day. However, the specific date for these rescheduled exams has not yet been determined.
“We will announce the new date through an official notification. But the decision is that both exams will be conducted on the same day—morning and afternoon,” Dr. Abrar said in response to journalists’ questions.
The HSC examinations scheduled for July 22 and 24 were postponed following the national tragedy at Milestone School and College in Uttara, where a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a school building, killing at least 32 and injuring over 170.
Students and guardians had expressed strong opposition to holding exams immediately after such a disaster, especially as many affected students were meant to sit for them.
The Education Ministry is expected to publish a revised routine soon.
