The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has announced that it will unveil a “July Declaration” and manifesto on August 3 at the Central Shaheed Minar, citing the interim government’s failure to fulfill its own promise of issuing such a declaration after the July Uprising.

At a press conference held at the party’s temporary office in Banglamotor on Sunday morning, NCP Convener Nahid Islam stated, “The deadline for the government’s promised July Declaration has expired. As there has been no visible initiative from their side, NCP will take the responsibility of presenting the declaration and manifesto to the people.”

To mark the anniversary of the July Uprising, the party has declared a series of events, starting with a nationwide campaign titled March for Nation-Building, to be held across all 64 districts from July 1 to July 30. The campaign will include grassroots-level outreach, village-to-city mobilization, and symbolic visits to the graves of the martyrs.

Key events include:

  • July 16: Anti-Discrimination Martyrs’ Day with prayers and commemorative discussions.
  • August 3: Public reading of the July Declaration and People’s Manifesto at Shaheed Minar.
  • August 5: Observance of Student-People’s Liberation Day.

“The message of July will be taken to the doorsteps of the people,” Nahid Islam added. “Our movement stands for justice, reform, and a new constitution. The current interim setup has clearly failed to meet the demands of the uprising. It’s time the people reclaim the future of Bangladesh.”

The NCP’s declaration marks a strategic political move to fill the vacuum left by the government’s inaction, as various progressive student and civic groups prepare to observe the uprising’s anniversary month with renewed vigor.
