The funeral of Dilara Hafiz, wife of National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikrom), was held on Monday at 12 noon at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the funeral to pay tribute, along with government ministers, state ministers, members of parliament, the opposition leader, and officials from the parliamentary secretariat. Following the ceremony, a tribute was offered on behalf of the President.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed his respects, and BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also paid tribute on behalf of BNP. The Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Chief Whip later offered their respects.
Dilara Hafiz passed away last Saturday while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital at the age of 78. Her second funeral will be held at the Central Mosque of Dhaka Cantonment, and she will be laid to rest at Banani Military Graveyard.
