Today (Thursday, March 19) is the final day to purchase advance train tickets for return trips after the Eid‑ul‑Fitr holiday, Bangladesh Railway has announced.
After the festive celebrations of Eid‑ul‑Fitr, passengers heading back home or to their workplaces can buy advance seats for return train journeys today only.
Advance tickets are available online for trains scheduled on March 29.
Like previous years, intercity trains are selling seven-day advance tickets under a special arrangement. To make it easier for travellers, Bangladesh Railway is selling 100% of these tickets online.
Starting at 8:00 AM, tickets for all intercity trains of the western region will be on sale online. From 2:00 PM, advance tickets for all intercity trains of the eastern region will be sold.
These arrangements were decided recently at a preparatory meeting held at the Railway Bhaban in Dhaka ahead of Eid travel.
According to the railway’s schedule:
- Tickets for March 23 were sold on March 13.
- Tickets for March 24 were sold on March 14.
- Tickets for March 25 were sold on March 15.
- Tickets for March 26 were sold on March 16.
- Tickets for March 27 were sold on March 17.
- Tickets for March 28 were sold on March 18.
It was also decided that, depending on moon sighting, tickets for March 20, 21, and 22 will be sold.
At the request of passengers, 25% of non‑AC coach standing tickets can be collected from the starting station before the journey begins.
Each traveller is allowed to buy advance tickets only once, and a maximum of four seats per person. No tickets will be refunded.
