High Court writ challenges President’s oath over dual citizenship and ‘silent role’ in July Uprising.

A writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking to declare Md. Shahabuddin’s swearing-in as President was illegal despite his dual citizenship. The writ also seeks an investigation into crimes against humanity against Sheikh Hasina and the President for their ‘silent role’ in the July coup.

The writ petition was filed with the relevant branch of the High Court on Monday (March 2). It is likely to be heard by a double bench of the High Court on Tuesday (March 3).

Earlier, on February 26, a legal notice was sent to the Parliament Secretariat and Law Secretary to remove President Md. Shahabuddin and appoint a new president as per the constitution. Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Shahriar sent the notice.
