PM Tarique Rahman Holds First Interaction with Own Office Staff Since Taking Office

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held his first meeting with the officials and staff of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) since assuming office. The session took place on Saturday, 28 February, at the Shapla Hall in Tejgaon.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister’s advisors, Mirza Abbas, Md. Ismail Jabiullah, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Humayun Kabir, Brigadier General (Retd.) Shamsul Islam, Dr. Zahedur Rahman, and Mahdi Amin. The PMO Chief Secretary A.B.M. Abdus Sattar delivered the welcome speech, followed by a presentation on the office’s structure and operations by PMO Director General Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury.

Addressing the staff, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said:

“The people of Bangladesh are looking at the government with high expectations. The government will succeed only when you support it.”
“We consider this country our first and last destination. Therefore, it is our responsibility to work for improving the lives of our people.”

He emphasized the importance of implementing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s manifesto, approved by voters through a fair election, and urged staff to assist in delivering on promises in healthcare, education, women’s education, employment, and sports, as outlined in the manifesto.

The Prime Minister also stressed:

“We must ensure the safety and security of our people so they feel secure. If we work together, we can achieve this goal.”
“I also expect full cooperation from all officials to eliminate corruption in the country.”

He instructed staff to maintain confidentiality in matters of national interest and strictly adhere to government rules and regulations to help build an orderly and disciplined nation.

Officials from departments under the PMO, along with staff members, attended the session.
