Dhaka-Middle East Flights Suspended Amid Regional Conflict

Middle East flight suspension

Following the outbreak of major military conflict in the Middle East—triggered by joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran—all flights from Dhaka to Middle Eastern destinations have been suspended until further notice.

The escalating regional instability has forced widespread airspace closures across Iran, Iraq, the UAE, and neighboring countries. Consequently, aviation authorities have grounded all commercial flights on these routes to ensure passenger safety.

Ministers Address Passenger Crisis

Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam Rita and Advisor Humayun Kabir visited Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today to oversee the situation. They held emergency discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and airline representatives to address the needs of thousands of stranded travelers.

“We are working urgently to ensure that no passenger is left without support during this crisis,” Afroza Khanam Rita stated at the terminal, directing airlines to prioritize communication, rescheduling, and necessary accommodation for affected citizens.

Humayun Kabir echoed this commitment, urging airlines to maintain maximum transparency and provide immediate relief to travelers whose journeys have been interrupted.

Passenger Guidance

  • Do Not Travel to the Airport: Officials advise passengers not to head to the airport until they have received a confirmed flight update from their airline.
  • Stay Informed: Travelers are urged to monitor official airline channels for the latest information on cancellations, refunds, and potential rebooking.
  • Situation Monitor: The Ministry is coordinating with international counterparts and will provide updates as the regional airspace situation stabilizes.
