Court Orders Freeze on 10 Bank Accounts of Ex-RAB DG Harun-ur-Rashid and His Wife

A Dhaka court has ordered the freezing of 10 bank accounts and savings certificates under the names of former RAB Director General (DG) Harun-ur-Rashid and his wife, Fateha Parveen. The order includes 5 savings certificates and 5 bank accounts.

The directive was issued on Tuesday by Judge Md. Sabbir Faiz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions and Senior Special Judge Court. According to the court’s assistant, Riaz Hossain, the order followed an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC/Dudok).

The ACC’s petition revealed that the Harun-ur-Rashid-Fateha Parveen couple holds a total of Tk 73.5 lakh in savings and bank accounts. The application, filed by ACC Deputy Assistant Director Md. Imran Akon, sought the freeze to prevent the assets from being transferred or disposed of.

The petition states that an investigation into Tk 1,000 crore in illegal wealth accumulation and laundering is ongoing against former DG Harun-ur-Rashid. During the inquiry, the ACC found substantial immovable assets in the names of Harun-ur-Rashid and Fateha Parveen but could not verify legitimate sources of income. Authorities fear that if these assets are moved or transferred, the state could suffer financial loss. Hence, the court ordered the assets frozen until further investigation.
