The first session of the 13th National Parliament will convene on March 12, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Sunday (February 22).
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarek Rahman at the Secretariat, the minister said the session will include the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Ordinances issued during the tenure of the interim government will also be placed before Parliament. In addition, a condolence motion will be moved, and the President will deliver an address.
The Home Minister said a summary regarding the session will be sent from the National Parliament Secretariat to the Prime Minister’s Office and then forwarded to the President. The President will formally summon the session based on the Prime Minister’s advice.
He confirmed that the date for convening the session has been set for March 12.
