The upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, to be held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will kick off in four months, and all tickets for the 104 matches have already been sold, FIFA confirmed. The tournament will feature 48 teams.
According to FIFA, during the main sales phase, over 508 million ticket applications were received within just four weeks, despite only around 7 million seats being available. FIFA President Gianni Infantino noted that all seats have now been allocated amidst this massive demand.
He added that 77 of the 104 matches received over 1 million ticket requests each, with applications coming from more than 200 countries, demonstrating football’s global appeal. Infantino also remarked that, in terms of both spectators and interest, this World Cup is set to break new records in history.
FIFA clarified that although tickets for all matches have been allocated, a portion of the quota has been deliberately reserved. These remaining tickets will be available during a separate sales phase starting April 2026, continuing until the tournament’s final day on July 19, 2026. The final sales will follow a “first-come, first-served” basis, giving fans another opportunity to secure limited tickets.
Infantino emphasized, “This World Cup is not just about sport; it is a global festival. The overwhelming demand for tickets proves that.”
