The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Maulana Ataur Rahman Bikrampuri from Narsingdi. The arrest took place late Tuesday night following a request from the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).
The information was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of the DMP.
Details of the Arrest
According to police sources, Ataur Rahman Bikrampuri was apprehended in Narsingdi during a specialized operation by the DB team. Following the arrest, he was transferred to the custody of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police for further legal proceedings.
Reason for Detention
DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman stated that the arrest was executed because there is an active three-month detention order issued against him.
“The Gazipur Metropolitan Police had requested his arrest due to the existing detention order. Acting on that request, he was taken into custody on Tuesday night,” the official told the media.

While the police confirmed the arrest occurred in Narsingdi, followers of Ataur Rahman Bikrampuri had been posting on social media since Tuesday night regarding his disappearance. Some supporters claimed he was traveling by bus from Bhairab when he was intercepted and picked up by individuals in a microbus.
