22-hour curfew from 8pm to 8am in Gopalganj

A 22-hour curfew has been imposed in Gopalganj from 8 pm on Wednesday (July 16) to 6 pm on Thursday (July 17). The Chief Advisor’s Press Wing reported this information on Wednesday.

At the same time, Asif Mahmud, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, posted on his official Facebook page, saying:“Curfew has been imposed in Gopalganj. Unless it’s a matter of life and death, no one should step outside. The number of law enforcement forces has been increased. The hideouts of the banned organization’s terrorists will be destroyed.”

It is worth mentioning that on Wednesday afternoon, at around 2:45 pm, an attack was carried out on an NCP convoy on its way back from a meeting in Gopalganj. NCP leaders have alleged that the leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and the banned Chhatra League carried out the attack. At that time, Gopalganj turned into a battlefield.Police and army opened fire to control the situation. Police and army vehicles were also attacked during this time. After this incident, NCP leaders took positions in government buildings.

Earlier, at around 1:30 pm, the Chhatra League also attacked the stage of an NCP rally organized in the Municipal Park area of Gopalganj city. The sound boxes, microphones, and chairs on the rally stage were vandalized and the NCP leaders and activists present were attacked. Later, some time after leaving the Municipal Park area, the NCP convoy came under attack.The leaders then took refuge in the Superintendent of Police’s office. Later, law enforcement officers rescued them from there.
