Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ Dhaka-Kathmandu flight was searched after an anonymous phone call reported that there was a bomb on board. However, no bomb was found on the plane, officials said. Meanwhile, panic has spread across Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after news of the bomb spread.
Flight BG-373 was scheduled to depart Dhaka at 4:45 pm today, Friday.
However, before the flight took off, an anonymous source received a bomb threat. After that, airport security was put on high alert. With the safety of passengers as the top priority, everyone was immediately taken off the plane.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ General Manager (GM) of Public Relations Department ABM Rawshan Kabir told Kaler Kantho, “Information about the presence of a bomb came from an unknown number.”
At that time, the flight was preparing to take off. With the safety of the passengers as the top priority, everyone was immediately taken off the plane. Later, nothing harmful was found on the plane after a search. After receiving clearance from the search team, the plane will leave for Nepal again.
Squadron Leader Md. Mahmudul Hasan Masum, spokesperson for the executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said that all passengers are safe. The search is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the airport’s security unit, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations are also working to ensure security.
Before Shahjalal’s flight took off, an unknown caller said – “Bomb on the plane!”
